About Me:
I could not be happier to have ended up at Rigby Middle. I love teaching at this school and love my students!
About the Class:
Now more about what you ACTUALLY want to know. What in the world will I (or my student) be learning this year? I teach 7th grade and the lab classes for 7th and 8th grade, but the structure of my classes is very similar. Here is a brief overview:

Now more about what you ACTUALLY want to know. What in the world will I (or my student) be learning this year? I teach 7th grade and the lab classes for 7th and 8th grade, but the structure of my classes is very similar. Here is a brief overview:
Reading
- We will read a class novel together every trimester. Sometimes this will be a novel that we study in depth, sometimes it will just be to enjoy the pleasure of a good story among good friends.
- Students will be required to fulfill a requirement of four books a trimester. I know this may seem like a lot to some students, but I promise that each student can meet this requirement! We will talk more about this in class (and on this website under the Books tab), but it is important that you know that this reading requirement encompasses MANY different types of books. We will find something for you!
- I give very little homework. In fact, other than finishing your reading requirement, I only give one consistent homework assignment: the Article of the Week. This will give students real-world experience with reading content that is current and pertinent to the world around them.
- 7th graders will learn about narrative, expository, and persuasive/argumentative writing. Together we will construct examples of our knowledge in each of these categories.
- Students will also have many other opportunities to write, such as free-writes (journal-type writing) and responses to questions posed in class.
